Community Spirit Shines at Radio Springs & Downtown Clean-Up

Yesterday was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together. Cottey College students, in partnership with the City of Nevada, Mayor Carol Branham, Parks and Recreation, and the Main Street Alliance, rolled up their sleeves for a city-wide clean-up day that left a lasting impact.

A Fresh Look at Radio Springs Park

Radio Springs Park got a well-deserved refresh as volunteers cleared debris and added fresh paint to the play equipment. Conversations also buzzed with excitement about upcoming improvements and new features designed to make the park an even more inviting place for families and visitors alike.

Cottey Students Take on Downtown

Meanwhile, downtown Nevada saw groups of Cottey students tackling a needed and tedious task—weed control. Their hard work not only improved the appearance of our historic square but also showcased the spirit of service and pride they bring to our city.

Refueling After the Work

After several hours of dedicated work, volunteers gathered at the Community Center for a well-deserved meal. The food was generously provided by Case Azteca Mexican Restaurant, the City of Nevada, and Mayor Branham. Main Street Alliance volunteers were on hand to capture photos of the day, serve meals, and assist with clean-up, rounding out the event with the same teamwork that defined the day.

A Community Win

This day showed us that when forces combine for the betterment of our community—students, city officials, local organizations, and volunteers—we all win. The Main Street Alliance extends heartfelt thanks to Cottey College, Mayor Branham, the City of Nevada, the Parks and Recreation Department, and our amazing volunteers for making this clean-up day an incredible success.

Together, we’re building pride, preserving our spaces, and creating a brighter future for Nevada. 🌟
