Spring Fun: Bringing the Community Together at Our First Easter Egg Hunt
There’s something special about the way a community comes alive in the spring—and this year’s Easter egg hunt on Saturday April 4, 2026, is no exception. It is clear this isn’t just about finding eggs—it's about creating memories. Volunteers will spend hours preparing the grounds, carefully hiding thousands of eggs in every nook and cranny, ensuring that kids of all ages can join in the fun. There will be over 10,000 eggs hidden overall.
“I went home that night and thought about something to bring the kids together and something for them to look forward to. I went to my employer and was told this is a great idea.” said Christina Clark-Garrett, organizer of the event.
The event will kick off with a countdown that echoes across the park and within seconds, children will dash across the community downtown square, laughter ringing in the air as they search high and low.
Beyond the hunt itself, the day offers something for everyone. The First Saturday on the Square will launch as well with local vendors, face painting stations, and craft tables added to the festive atmosphere. A special visit from the Easter Bunny will bring smiles and plenty of photo opportunities. Food vendors such as Mi Sazon, The Driveway Diner BBQ, Faith Freedom Root beer, and Cruisin’ Creamery will be there to keep everyone fed and happy. There will also be live music from Crossroads Community Church and FBC Nevada from 1-3pm. Winners of the egg hunt for each age group will receive a bike with 8 bikes total. There will also be raffle tickets available as well as face painting, henna tattoo booth, and a bounce house.
Organizers emphasize the importance of community in making the event a success. This wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers and 70 local sponsors. It’s incredible to see how people came together to create something joyful for our kids.
One sponsor, Ragan Forkner, stated, “I’m more than happy to give back to a community that has given so much to me. I’m proud to support events that bring us all together. There’s nothing better than bringing smiles to our kids and families here in Vernon County. We’re already counting down to next year.”
