Community Cookout Returns to Honor Vernon County Public Safety Personnel
Community members will once again have an opportunity to come together and show their appreciation for the men and women who help keep Vernon County safe.
The second annual Community Cookout honoring local law enforcement and public safety personnel will be held Monday, June 15, at 6 p.m. on the south lawn of the Vernon County Courthouse. The event is hosted by the Vernon County Republican Central Committee and is open to the public.
According to organizer Traci Cliffman, the event was first established following the prompt response from local agencies during last year's tornado.
While many public safety professionals choose careers in law enforcement, emergency services, and firefighting, Cliffman says the sacrifices made by both these individuals and their families often go unseen.
The cookout is designed to bring the community together to recognize those who serve and protect Vernon County while also creating opportunities for residents and public safety personnel to connect on a more personal level.
"These types of events help to build personal relationships between the community and law enforcement and public safety officials," Cliffman said. "Some people may not know how to say thank you, and showing up to an event that does just that is a great way to connect and show your appreciation for all they do."
As the event enters its second year, organizers hope it will continue to grow into an annual tradition that strengthens relationships throughout the community.
"It's about relationships," Cliffman said. "Come to the event to help foster respect, understanding, and appreciation for the individuals who work every day to keep our communities safe."
The Nevada Main Street Alliance is grateful for the many law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency responders, and volunteers who serve Vernon County. We thank them for their commitment to our community and the sacrifices they make each day to help keep our residents safe.
