Building a Stronger Nevada: Phil Grant Winners Announced

Last Updated 11/7/2025Posted in News

The Nevada/Vernon County Philanthropic Society — known locally as The Phil — recently announced this year’s Phil Grant recipients, recognizing several organizations making a positive impact in our community.

This year’s grants were awarded to Crowder College, Cardboard (a Theatre Production Company), McGinnis Youth Center, and the Nevada Main Street Alliance.

As one of this year’s recipients, the Nevada Main Street Alliance is honored to be supported by The Phil and the Nevada/Vernon County Community Foundation. Together, these organizations bring donors and community leaders together to fund meaningful local projects that strengthen and uplift the Nevada area.

What Is The Phil?

According to President Dr. Jeremy Fast, the Nevada/Vernon County Philanthropic Society is a group of people who donate to a fund dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals in the Nevada area through thoughtful grantmaking and community leadership. The organization provides seed funding to expand existing programs or create new services that benefit the community. Since its inception three years ago, The Phil has awarded over $125,000 in community grants.

How Are Recipients Selected?

Each year, The Phil opens an application process for organizations to apply for funding. Once applications are submitted, members hear short presentations from applicants before gathering to discuss and vote on the final grant recipients.

How to Get Involved

Membership in The Phil includes individuals who give $1,000 annually, couples who donate $1,500, and businesses contributing $2,000. Every member has a vote in selecting grant recipients, and 100% of the funds collected each year are reinvested into the community. Those interested in joining can contact Amy Bishop at [email protected] for more information.

The Nevada Main Street Alliance extends sincere appreciation to The Phil and the Nevada/Vernon County Community Foundation for their continued efforts to empower local organizations and invest in the future of our community.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Nevada — one project at a time!
