History

Founded in 1952

For over 70 years, Rinehart Jewelry has been more than a jewelry store. We have been a downtown Nevada landmark, a trusted neighbor, and a part of the most meaningful moments in the lives of families across southwest Missouri. What started as a small jewelry counter purchased from a local optometrist's office has grown into a three-generation family business that still operates with the same values Jim and Helen Rinehart built it on.

In 1952, Jim and Helen Rinehart bought the tiny jewelry department at the front of Dr. Clay Walker’s optometrist office in downtown Nevada, Missouri. Two years later they moved into their own building, and the business never stopped growing. Starting in the late 1970s, Jim's daughter Kathy and her husband Sonny Butler had joined the family operation, and in 1986 Jim officially passed the torch to them. The decades that followed brought Kathy and Sonny's daughter Jennifer and her husband Cesar Zermeño into the fold, representing the third generation of a family committed to the same promise made over 70 years ago. In 2012, Rinehart Jewelry moved to its current freestanding home on the corner of Austin Boulevard and Cedar Street in the heart of downtown Nevada, where the family and their team continue to serve the community they love. Today, when you walk through our door, you are not just visiting a jewelry store. You are stepping into a piece of Nevada history.
